Passion is something that deals with deep emotions, a boundless enthusiasm. It can be inevitable when it starts to invade your senses.
And I believe everybody has his own passion. Some just acquired it as their lives advance. Others were simply born with it. [I am one with the former, FYI.]
Yes, I have an acquired passion for books [excluding the academic ones, unfortunately]. I don’t know when I started liking these stuff. Grade school, maybe.
I remember, when I was just a little kid, I had this Dr. Seuss book entitled “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish“. It is an illustrative rhyming book for beginners with a freewheeling plot about a boy and a girl, and the amazing creatures as their friends and pets. I was so fond of the book, even until now, that I really memorized some parts by heart. One of my favorites was…
Some are sad. And some are glad. And some are very, very bad.
Why are they sad and glad and bad? I do not know. Go ask your dad.
Some are thin. And some are fat.
The fat one has a yellow hat.
From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere.
That was when I was small. And, as I extended my horizon, I discovered more. From Julie Garwood to Sidney Sheldon [who now Rocks In Perpetuity], to Ken Follet, to Nora Roberts, to JD Salinger, to Jane Austen, to Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and a whole lot more. I sometimes consider these as my guilty pleasures because I love books to the bones, but I overspend at times. Haha! Oh well… I can’t blame myself. Yes, no one should be blaming someone for satisfying his/her fire in the belly…
Oh yeah! Like, today. Ha ha! Gahd! This afternoon, a package arrived, containing the two items I purchased from avalon.ph. And last week [by 090409], National Bookstore left me Php268 short. Actually, it was supposed to be Php335, but they’re having this “CUT PRICE Book Sale”
Haha! Irresistible XD So, for this month, I got 3 books [...and counting. LOL]
You, book-lover, should check avalon.ph. It’s where you can find rare books for less :)) I am also amazed with the site owner. He responds immediately to my queries.
I love it XD

I wish I kept up with books, but I was always too cheap to purchase the ones I was interested in. Lately, I’ve also been interested in “chick lit,” so I didn’t really care too much. Hopefully I’ll find time to read during the school year though!

it’s your extravagance aimz so you can’t be blamed as i can’t be blamed with spending randomly on notebooks/journals. wahahaha. XD i wish i could read more books pud so that i could expand my knowledge and vocabulary. pero just like jessa, selected books ra pd akung basahon. and those easy-to-read ones. ky mg.nosebleed nya ku. dli bya ku hilig mg.tapad ug dictionary. pero mao nah nohh, i have to learn to love the dictionary to widen my vocabulary. wat da, mikyu! hahaha.

Ah yeah I did notice that you’re quite fond of books based on some of your entries. Buti ka pa. I never really had a passion for reading.. it’s not like I “hated it with a passion” (haha) pero ndi lang talaga ako mahilig e. Nagbabasa lang ako pag talagang interested ako (like Harry Potter dati) or pag kelangan sa school

Hi there!! I bloghopped to your site and I can’t resist commenting because you too are a bibliophile!! Aww love books since I was young too! Started with them Disney big books when I was a preschool-er then Nancy Drew books and Hardy Boys, then the classics, young adults. I really spent a lot on them and my dad was always complaining XD haha. My book reading peak points were from 10 years old to 14 years old. I kinda stopped after a while because high school came and had less time to read… haha
thanks for sharing the site! I need to catch up on reading! I have to reread LOTR series(i became too bored when reading the 2nd book so I stopped, but I challenge myself to read it again. I think rereading works because I reread Pride and Prejudice when I was in 2nd year and I LOVED it since! :D) and have to read One Hundred Years of Solitude! haha
Latest reading was Lovely Bones. Sighs…
well tc fellow book lover!

Hi there! Thanks for the comment!
I used to be a passionate reader too but that was when I wasn’t as busy as I am now. I see to it that I read one book after the other but now… I can’t even finish a page.
Reading your entry made me felt a bit envious. I admire your passion for reading and how you explore new titles and authors. It’s really something to be proud of since reading books became somewhat rare these days?
I lurk around avalon.ph for moleskine blank notebooks. hahaha! I never really explored the books… well, maybe I will now thanks to you!

I love Dr. Seuss’ books. But I fail as a book lover cos I haven’t read any of his books aside from Cat in a Hat. Boo~ Sidney Sheldon, his famous books are the Bourne series (Identity, supremacy…) right? I’m quite not sure but I heard my Dad saying that he wrote those. And I also heard his books are more of mysteries and actions, I might try reading one soon!
Just incase you might like them too! Hehehe. Take care~
Try Neil Gaiman’s books. They’re great

I love books. I have a library of them at home. But ever since I started working, I no longer have the free time to lie down and read. Sucks.

Under the Tuscan Sun, I want to read that book. I know there’s a movie too but I often prefer books to movies. Depends on the topic though.
