Mandaue “Run For Life” 2010 will raise the curtain for this year’s MBM. Several groups and business organizations will participate in this event and the proceeds shall benefit MCCI’s medical missions and the Dasig Kabataan Foundation.

And who am I not to participate? So, last Saturday, I officially took part in this year’s Mandaue Business Movement. Yes, I registered for the run at Dunkin Donuts (SM), along with some friends and other CBS members.

It was during my OJT that I decided to leaf through some pages again since the work was pretty boring, especially during mornings. So the first book I read that time was The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. As usual, Mr. Brown never fails to leave my mouth hanging in awe. A two-thumbs up yet again.

That’s how I got myself wanting more, and more. I even got the chance to read Looking for Alaska by John Green. Finally. After many months of looking for a copy. Then, I found out it was banned. I mean, come on, you people. Banning this book is so ridiculous that I want to make an appeal. It had powerful writing. Fascinating in its ways. This isn’t “pornographic” and not intended to shock readers, but simply to explore teen sexuality. I even think that Julie Garwood’s books contain more sensitive scenes than this one. Looking for Alaska was a remarkably intelligent book and managed to rise above the condescension that teen novels usually have. I can’t help but appreciate the depth that this novel had shown. It’s apparently one of my favorites. I love how it explores life and death.

Finally, my most recent read. The Hunger Games trilogy, only that the third and last installment is yet to be released this August. The first two books are awesome. Fascinating. Remarkable. Hands down to Suzanne Collins’ originality and creativity. I’m not sure if there’s a similar story with this trilogy, but I doubt it since I had never encountered one. And I tell you, bookworms, you’ll regret not giving these books a chance. It’s too riveting, if not amazing, to put down.

I seriously can’t wait for August 24. I’m dying to know the aftermath of their defiance to the Capitol. Katniss. Gale. Peeta. Haymitch. Finnick. Et cetera. And, yes, I was so thrilled when I searched The Hunger Games on imdb.com

The four-time drift champion, Alex Perez, was also present. He did some cool stunts that left my jaw hanging. He really is good. Gio Rodriguez, the youngest drifting champion, also did amazing (added to the fact that he’s cute :p ) LOL!!! I just hope that we were included in those lucky spectators to ride (in the passenger’s seat). I mean, it was one big of an event and I don’t know when I will be able to witness another scene like that. I think I missed my chance. And I got frustrated that it was somehow close to anger, but decided not to dwell in that sentiment since there’s no point.

Pia Boren, the Philippine’s first female drifter (super cool, right?), and Isabel Oli were also there. Ryan Agoncillo showed off some of his drifting skills. He said that if he were to rate himself, he’s just a beginner. He also admitted that Judy Ann, his wife, learned faster than he did and she’s better than him. How pretty is that!

Well, I was really happy I went to the event. It was my first time to actually see someone do the drifting thing. What a sport! It’s exciting. I hope I get to see more.

It’s hard to escape, yes. So, for the meantime, I’m just gonna settle for a movie at home or maybe just a book. It’s still a pretty consolation, you know. I love ‘em both. I guess all your wishes came true. I, indeed, had a very happy birthday. Well, more than half of the day wasn’t all that great. Stressful because of our Market Expo. I went home with a heavy heart, body, and mind… The moment I reached my dorm, someone knocked on the door outside. I was expecting my cousin because I borrowed a jumper from her. But when I opened the door, it was him I was speechless. He arrived by 11am that day and I had no idea… It was the biggest surprise I was so happy that tears came rolling down. Tears of joy, yes.

He told me to change my clothes because we had to go somewhere. I thought we were going out for dinner, but we went to the airport. Ha ha! Second surprise. My mom arrived from Pampanga She brought a cake from Red Ribbon and a whole lot more

It was a day full of surprises. And I could barely contain the happiness I felt. Sadness gone.

On the 28th, Eugene left for Maasin, so he could spend time with his family and friends there. I really wanted to go because I miss my hometown, too Well, he came back to Cebu on the 3rd of March. ‘Twas a Wednesday and I had a class until 4:30pm. And the night before, I reserved 2 movie tickets for Miss You Like Crazy through sureseats.com. :)) It was a good one. The patience part was really emphasized and it was heart-warming. John Lloyd’s expressions never fail to make wonders.

And on the 4th of March, which was also Eugene’s departure date, (thank God my class was still at 3pm) we went to BDO near the Ayala mall because something went wrong with his ATM. The money just disappeared from his account. The attendant told us to call their Makati office. Not so much help we got there… Anyway, we went inside the mall for lunch. And then I saw this poster just below the label CINEMA 1. It was then that I realized that March 4 was the release date of Alice in Wonderland, the movie that I had waited long to see. I, actually, planned to watch in SM tomorrow so I can watch it in 3D. But, I then realized that Eugene wouldn’t be here any longer, so I decided to watch it with him on that day Anyway, my class was still at 3 and the movie was only until 2:30 First showing on the first day. I’m so happy! <3

It was a good movie, too. Johnny Depp was, is, and always will be, my favorite actor. Ha ha! Helena did great also. Woot woot! Tim Burton does wonders. Kudos to them all.

So, it was, generally a good day. I enjoyed the whole time he was here.

In two years, blogging in Cebu has ripened from just being a mere online diary to something that takes an active role in civic and social awareness.
One of the factors that contributed to this positive development in the blogging scene in Cebu is the creation of a local blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008, with the main goal of uniting Cebu-based bloggers into a well-bonded community. And indeed, after its creation, individuals with diverse backgrounds but with a common interest, which is to promote Cebu and advocate blogging as a key tool for progress, converged together to establish Cebu’s first and largest blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society has really grown and evolved quite significantly. From its humble beginnings, the group presently has at least 80 members and the number is still bound to increase further.

And now, the group is already anticipating its 2nd founding anniversary! Dubbed as “CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration”, the event is envisioned to further strengthen the bond of friendship and camaraderie within the blogging community.

The anniversary celebration will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010, 5-9PM, at the Celebration Hall of SM Storyland, Lower Ground Floor, SM City Cebu.

The more I focus my view on our feasibility study and case studies, the more vague the minors become. Sometimes, I feel really guilty for favoring my major subjects, that eventually led to neglecting everything else, but it’s something that I could barely help. My time-management isn’t that stable and my self-disciple is way too low Oh help me, God!

Anyway, enough of the dark side, there’s this new store in SM Cebu. Yay I was already a fan of that store in Facebook even before it was established here. And it’s really a good thing because  I can reserve dresses online before the stocks will be available here But the downside of online purchases (reservations are considered sold) is the uncertainty with the sizes. So, I still have to go to their store just so I can be sure everything fits perfectly.

Now, there are dresses that I like and I only have a budget for one. I’m still not sure, though, if I will really buy it. But just in case.., I want to ask for your opinions. Which, among these, is nicest?
